If security would have done their job and done a proper pat down or metal detector type search this could have been prevented. Seriously when are venues going to quit fucking around and get serious about security rather than hire the meatheads from the local college football team.

As for the person opening fire in a Radio Shack.... now that I can understand.

This reminds me of the 911 5k death event. People were sad because they felt related or knew people slain therein. Similarly, many of you know or admire these other fellows who were destroyed. And yet 30,000 thousand souls die in Congo every month of preventable diseases - simple things like dysentery (kids expire of malnutrition and dehydration basically they have a continuous case of diarrhea until they become so weakened they finally end)

But these men are removed from your sphere of humanity so their deaths mean nothing to you, I take a cynical view of this world and see all men as mostly dammed fools moving through a dammed wasteland until damnation - it's a crying shame, and the skinny little 3rd world beggar kid I saw that ran barefoot on the street smiled like king when I gave him a single coin of their worthless currency - does anybody care about him? Will he die like dog in the dirty city street?

It's all very boring and to be honest and cruel, forgive me but the slaying of some drunken lout singer means very little to me.

Your pardon if I impress as a cold and evil creature - it's just that all your tears seem selfish to me - being one whose own kindness is nigh matched by mine strength and wisdom.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">dude, dont be a jackass. I think (here at least) most of us arent saddend because we thought we 'knew' him or felt some fucking holy connection with him.
Its because it happened in a way that could have been any of us anywhere.
How many people on this board go to shows? Im willing to bet all or most of them. Now, how many of us think "oh shit, Im not goin to that show because I might get shot". Well unless your going to a fuckin 50cent show or some shit, Im willing to bet the thought has never crossed our minds when getting ready for a social d or other show.
You never think you have to wear a kevlar vest under your favorite tshirt when going out to see a band.
This is tragic because it is unexpected. And the fact that the media was all over it, has brought it to alot of peoples attention, who otherewise, would have never known or given two shits about it.
I dont see the news covering the dieing kids in congo. Ever. And I'm sure if they did, people would be upset about that too. But ya know what, all of the grieving and feeling sorry in the world isnt going to change what happened to Dimebag, or the little shits who are dieing all over the world. okay?
Doesnt mean their lives are worth any less than his. But the media has a morbid obsession with celebrity. In turn, we will be forced to hear about events like this (some as bad, some not) for the rest of our lives. Media is a business my friend, they dont want to bore people with the real news, which people like you and me are forced to search for ourseleves. they want ratings, and something like this is sure to get them.

Once again, my heart goes out to the families and friends of those who were killed that night.
And nothings gonna change that, not even you, trying to make me feel bad because i cant change the world.

The gunman never snuck by security, he hoped the fence and ran in. Security was about 10 feet behind him when he got on to the stage.

Oh yeah and Smaug the Golden do the board a favor and refrain from using such big words in your rants. It confuses those of us who arent nearly the intellectual equivelent of such a fat head as yourself.

"Mitch Carpenter, an Alrosa security guard working in the parking lot, said he encountered Gale before the concert and asked him to "park his car and buy a ticket or leave." Gale parked behind the building near the band's bus and was asked to move his car, which he did. The next time Carpenter saw Gale, he was in the club. "He had hopped the fence at the patio," Carpenter said. "He was walking really fast toward the stage and I followed him. "I thought he was going to get up there and stage dive or something during the first song. I figured he was just a guy who didn't have any money to buy a ticket so he got in the way he did. "I've been going over it in my mind, but when he came in I didn't want to tackle him. He was a big guy." "

I'm sure that guy could have stopped him from getting to the stage.
And even if he had gone through the doors, that club doesnt body check or search, so he could have brought a fuckin oozie in with him if he wanted.

hindsight is always 20/20 right? Im sure if the security last week in ohio could go back in time, they would tackle that guy before he made it inside even if he was a "big guy". The same goes for United airlines. Im sure they would have installed locked bullet proof doors on sept 10th if they knew what was going to happen the next morning. Im sure president kennedy would have ridden in a bullet proof motorcade while parading through downtown dallas.

Every tragedy can be prevented in some way, but as humans, with our own brand of logic, we think to ourselves "that will never happen" then it almost certainly does.

We can stay locked up in our homes and worry or we can get out there and live our lives. If someone is going to do us wrong, they will find a way, no matter what precautions we strive to take.
